I am a man.
Masculinity is a tool.
Masculinity is a tool I am able to choose how much I choose to use it.
Masculinity is a tool I can choose not to use.
I don’t own Masculinity, I use tools as they are needed.
I am not required to use any tools that don’t serve me in any given time. That would be using a tool for the justification of using it, and probably will fail when I wield it that way.
Weapons are tools, right? Some people see guns that way and that we need to punish the people who use them. Some people want to get rid of them all together. Is any one right?
I’m not afraid of my masculinity, to me, I consider it a privilege and an honor to wield the tool as I do.
I’m afraid of how others wield it, and how that affects anyone who wields it.
That tool doesn’t define me - I define me.
